pinky and the brain

I've been talking about buying a guitar and learning to play for a long time. So when I went with some friends/co-workers into a music shop over the weekend, it was more peer pressure and general put-up-or-shut-up that pried $200 out of my wallet and a new Takamine acoustic into my hands. (That's about the closest model on their site; mine seems to be one for the Asian market that's not on their US website; it looks like that but doesn't have any electronics.)

At the moment I've got a few downloaded e-books that I'm slowly going through, (If anyone has a suggestion for a good book I would be grateful,) but I'm telling myself that I'll sign up for lessons when I get back. Right now my main problems are the fingers on my left hand, which are 1) slow, 2) fat, and 3) weak like little girls. I don't know how I manage to even type an 'A' with my left pinky, which completely collapses under the pressure of a tiny little steel wire. I wish I had some silly putty to squeeze or something.

I'm thinking of selling the X-Box so I stop playing SSX3 and practice the guitar more often. (ha ha, who are we kidding?)

On another topic… If anyone wants a free pro account on Flickr, and you'll actually use it, let me know, I've got one to give away.

I went to see Sahara last weekend. I actually had to leave early (I wouldn't have gone at all except that we got some free tickets to the Taiwan opening night) but from what I heard it didn't get any better after I left. A friend made an accurate observation; Matthew McConaughey is playing a character who is an amalgamation of Indiana Jones, James Bond, and Luke Duke from Dukes of Hazzard.

In other news I may be leaving Taiwan by the end of June. I'll let you know when I hear for sure. Right now, I had a long crappy weekend so I'm going home to crawl back to bed.
