- I went to see The Wrens here in DC on Friday night. The first opener was a guy named Andy Zipf, and he was pretty good, I'm going to keep an eye out for him. The Nein were fine, not objectionable, but didn't really do much for me. I wish I could say something about The Wrens, but by that time it was after midnight, I was bored and tired, and there by myself in a sea of gorgeous hipsters, and so I went outside for a minute. I started talking to the homeless guy out on the street, but even he wasn't interested, so in a fit of ennui I just went home.
- Sunday night there was a volunteer meeting for Operation Ceasefire, which is a big concert that caps off a huge anti-war march and rally on the Mall in DC. I was hoping to work the stage crew, which I have experience in, but they have professionals doing the interesting work and only wanted bodies to unload trucks and such. Which I would have done, but then got to talking to the head photo/video guy, and so now I'm going to be shooting the march and the concert along with a couple other people, and they will put our shots up on the video screens in between acts. So I'm excited about that, I'm using it as an excuse to buy some more toys (new external flash, might get a new lens).
- Saturday the 24th, Ted Leo, Le Tigre, Thievery Corporation, a few other acts and a bunch of speakers. If you are coming to DC for the event they could use some more volunteers, email me (rob at this domain) and I'll pass on the info.
- Work has been making me crazy, to the point of spending my commute daydreaming about finding another job. Can't really say more since the audience is unknown. There are rumors that I might get pulled off this project and promoted to a bigger job on a satellite that I first started working on 6 years ago. (Not many people left who know anything about it…) We'll see, I'm not sure I'm ready for that, but it's sounding more likely.
- It's 8:50 and I'm still in my pajamas. That'll clinch the promotion, no doubt.
