Soooo…. um. Yeah. I'll take that “Holy crap!” comment as congratulatory.

Anyway. Wow, someone at NBC News decided they had taken enough bullshit from the Administration, and they weren't going to put up with it any more. The manipulation, the lies, the generally poor treatment of any press that were less than cooperative… someone in charge just snapped and said enough. Stop me if you heard this already. The President did a little photo-op video conference with some troops this afternoon, and the press were told point blank it was going to be a frank, open discussion, and unscripted. Only, big suprise, it was nothing of the sort. Nothing new there. The only difference is that this time, the pentagon PR lady held a rehearsal, to go over the questions and responses with these troops… which they uplinked to the satellite, so the newsrooms saw the whole thing. Brian Williams acknowledged that they put up with this kind of thing all the time, but I guess today was too much to take. So instead of making a nice news story on Bush's raport with the troops, the #1 story on NBC News tonight was how the White House tried to dazzle us with bullshit. It was pretty amazing; I think things are starting to really turn. Which, ya know, it's about time, considering the President's approval rating is in the basement… the only strange thing is that the media attitude is following behind the public instead of leading it, like they did with Clinton.
