Part of the reason I haven't been posting much is that I've had guests, first my parents and now my mother-and-sister-in-laws staying in the room where I have the iMac. They're only here for one more week, so that will remove one obstacle. Although then who will change the baby? I really should study the instruction manual.
So I had fallen behind on Lost by a few episodes, due to someone having deleted a couple of them from the Tivo, so I just today got around to watching the finale.
Holy Crap.
Some people complain about the lack of a payoff; week after week of watching, being fed breadcrumbs and unrelated tidbits and “clues.” Those people can now shut the f*ck up. That was awesome.
I guess that's all I need to say about that, either you've already watched it, or you don't care.
Ummm… lets see. Gabriel is doing great. He's not sleeping as regularly as we would like, but he's enjoying the attention from Grandma, and growing fast. He's making slow advancements towards becoming sentient, with various noises and faces and the like. Ya know… he's a baby.
And… I got a message on Flickr the other day from a publishing company that wants to use one of my photos for a college government textbook cover. She didn't say which one, but it's one of my protest set from last September. If I was picking one for a (non-Bush-hating) book cover I would go with this one. Anyway, I have to figure out how much to charge them for it. I have some idea what they would pay a professional in a stock photo agency, but if they wanted to spend that much they wouldn't have been browsing on Flickr. I don't want to scare her off, and obviously I would be happy just to be published, but clearly I should get paid. I'm hoping I can just get enough out of them to pay for a copy of full-up Photoshop CS2, which would cost half of what they might pay someone else. Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes. This has gotten me excited again about the prospect of taking the photography more seriously. Now if I could just find time to get out of the house.
